Pilates Matwork Instructor Training

Breathe 200 hr Pilates Matwork Instructor Training is scheduled 1-2 times per year.  Our next training begins September 2018.
Participants will be trained to teach an all level mat group class with small equipment, basic an functional anatomy will be covered, injury modification an prevention, special populations, 5 basic principles of Pilates, Pilates philosophy and history, how to sequence and flow a class and advance exercises.
12 week program runs with 7 weeks of in-class time Sundays 11:30am-4:30pm. (NOTE WE RUN A CONDENSED VERSION FOR SUMMER, IT WILL BE DONE OVER 6 WEEKS)

$2499 +hst (Early Registration $2199 +hst if paid in full prior to start of program) includes $100 non-refundable application fee, course material and textbook.  Payment plan can be worked out with each individual as needed.  Includes a 3 month membership to Breathe Pilates and Fitness studio for duration of instructor training program. Full refund minus the $100 deposit will be issued prior to the start of class, once class has started (whether course has been completed or not by the student) no refund is available.  No refund available for missed or not completed classes.
Program includes practice teaching hours and apprentice hours.  Mentoring and teaching support provided.  2 practical exams and 1 written exam.

200 hour break down:

  • Total Lecture hours: 42 hours (7 weeks – Sundays from 11:30am-4:30pm; see lecture schedule above)
  • Total class participation hours: 84 hours
  • Exam teaching classes and prep: 4 hours
  • 10 practice teaching classes supervised: 10 hours
  • 15 apprentice classes in studio: 15 hours
  • Homework allotted hours: 45 hours (~4hours/week)

Aerial Hammock/Sling Training (Aerial Pilates & Aerial Yoga)

Instructors for Aerial Yoga will learn how to teach a Vinyasa Style Aerial Yoga class, combining an Vinyasa flow class with the Aerial Arts.  Course will cover the benefits and contraindications of Aerial Yoga, a comparison for Aerial Yoga asanas versus Floor Yoga asanas, learning to create an Aerial Yoga Flow class and sequencing.  Safety, rigging, where to buy fabric and equipment, and insurance will also be covered.  Course will take place over 3 weekends.

Requirements for course completion :

  • Attendance to all classes (missed class can be made up with instructor)
  • 5 observations
  • 5 practice teaching classes
  • Full payment
